Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia

Insanity that keeps me wake-
I never sleep at night-
To every living second take-
In never-ending fright.

Darkness, Death, Despair and Sorrow-
All four at once attacking-
A single moment, sans Tomorrow-
The Sanity there lacking.

My mind is but a senseless void-
A vortex wrought from the Darkest Heart-
In shattered glass, my life destroyed-
My soul is torn apart.

So gently into me it went-
The Shadows that it brought-
Sins for which I can’t repent-
So here in Death, I rot.

A corpse decayed in settled dust-
Where once the blooms would blossom-
Withered now, for Death I lust-
Into the soil’s bosom.

A human that I used to be-
A person lost and tired-
No purpose, joy, no Destiny,
In Silence, undesired.

  • A former member wrote: I can really relate to this; I've been through it myself. If you have this illness you probably will believe you've committed sins you can't repent for, (I did) but of course that is never true. It is possible to put this illness behind you. My doctor said that usually once schizophrenics get well, they don't go crazy again. I wrote my own poem about it called "Coldlight."

I wish I could say I relate, but in all honestly I don't suffer from it at all, but a girl that I once went out with did, and in brutal honestly she was a walking clusterfuck. Scholar

Truly a dark write my friend, this poem is definitely how schizophrenia can be, trust me I know. "A corpse decayed in settled dust" chilling image indeed, thanks for sharing. Scholar

I loved the visual pictures I got in my mind. Whenever I read anything by you, I can see what you are writing, its odd, but its true. Also, I think the dashes at the end of most of your lines work well, because i naturally pause when i get to those and it gives me a moment to think about what has been written.
