Empty

By Lylani

I looked in the mirror
I wasn't there

I spent so long
Trying to be someone
Trying to be yours
Now I am

I changed my clothes
I changed my mind

I used to have a view worth defending
Now I passively smile
Where I used to fight for a cause

But now you hold my hand
And kiss my vacant lips
I know I should be happy

But something is missing...
...Me

You were supposed to fall in love with me...
...as I am

holy... . . . it feels so inadequate to say I relate hugely to this piece, down to the depths of what I used to be. I'm struggling to find myself again, and to not apologize for doing so, and this one... yeah. an explosion of regret is hidden in these words.
