when my pen lays down tonight

By Taunting The Reaper

when my pen lays down tonight
I will crumple up the day
to make it small enough to fit inside
my pocket

I will empty the heavens into my heart
and embrace my fate
like a shadow puppet reaching for immortality

I will groan a shattering groan
and face the man in the mirror
with teeth and heart
I will sail away into the night
with the stars winking
and the moon dreaming
and even the tiniest ant will

as my spark is diminished
and the day winces
and the darkness floods in
I will cast a spell
I will shrink the most menacing tower
into a pocket-sized matchbox
so that if my spark should fail me
I will light a match
to spark once more

The concept was solid; imagery, beautifully brutally brilliant, like Athena clad in armor. Very well done.
