onward we march
By Taunting The Reaper
when the earth is cracked and dry
it promises nothing while you linger
there is but death that awaits
unless you find the sound of your steps
moving you forward
there are roots that must be severed
in order to embrace a new place
roots like tangled flesh
beneath the earth
writhing in agony
yearning to be forgotten
take this advice:
cut them loose
cut deeply and swiftly
and as they become dust behind you
you will taste the scent of the horizon
across the landscape it awaits
each footstep brings it closer
clearer
more solidified
as a doorway opens
and a colorful cockatiel waves good-bye
knowing you are on your way
much as it was on its way
as sure as the seasons
we sever our roots
and onward we march
to embrace the unknown

a steadily advancing.. strong, uplifting piece that flows easily... 'you will taste the scent of the horizon'... snaps up and catches the attention... great piece
