Splinter and fragment (lyrics maybe)

By Stephanie Sideways

I stole a splinter from the buried glow of your heart.
For being numb, you barely noticed, slight of hand and blind eye blinking
So I took as well, a tiny fragment and hid the theft like precious art
'Neath my muse, who nursed them gently, sensing the poison they'd been drinking

When my muse had twirled them through her weary fingers, mind reposed
She carried them right back to you, those echoed wounds sent slowly floating
A shadow of my heart had hitched a ride to where your ego knows
And breathed the water though transparent lungs to drown the sinking feeling

How can it be a shadow lifted
Darkened my heart
Darkened my heart?
How can it be ended?
It didn't start..
But it was needed.

Do you still bask in it's shade. with a splinter and a fragment
And does your heart resound with tempted whispers of my haunted prose
How have you misplaced desire and let it lie, forgotten and stagnant
I kissed the splinter and the fragment, have they got a place to go ?

How can it be a shadow lifted
Darkened my heart
Darkened my heart?
How can it be ended?
It didn't start
But it was needed.

Sometimes one's unrequited love is another's amnesia, we grow up and grow older, and move on. But then every now and then... Things happen for a reason, and this has been my consolation. Cheers!
