...Tremors of thoughts I wish unremembered

Just help me to understand
What of our plans?
Dreams and desires once an uncontrollable blaze
Fire in my soul every time I met your gaze
Now burning cool – as an unkempt fire
I see the embers of our memories, mired
Still you haven’t passed
Every new day brings to bear our impasse
A love I thought would forever, last
Our pile of stones almost all cast
Skipping across the lake
Leaving lonely ripples in their wake
Never will another make ripples in this world as you
Smiles will come again, though in my heart I know this to be untrue
Words hollow as I hear them spill from this wretched vessel
In my sorrow of broken tomorrows, I nestle
Within chaotic thoughts, I wrestle
There is no answer to this sorrow
I dream for myself to not wake tomorrow
What of our plans?
Dreams and desires once an uncontrollable blaze
Fire in my soul every time I met your gaze
Now burning cool – as an unkempt fire
I see the embers of our memories, mired
Still you haven’t passed
Every new day brings to bear our impasse
A love I thought would forever, last
Our pile of stones almost all cast
Skipping across the lake
Leaving lonely ripples in their wake
Never will another make ripples in this world as you
Smiles will come again, though in my heart I know this to be untrue
Words hollow as I hear them spill from this wretched vessel
In my sorrow of broken tomorrows, I nestle
Within chaotic thoughts, I wrestle
There is no answer to this sorrow
I dream for myself to not wake tomorrow
