...Threadbare
By SolApathy
Life without romance is but a casual
glance
A dance unfinished and forgotten
Life, incomplete
Tell me could you live life without food to eat?
Romance is sustenance of the soul
Without it you might as well just let go
Drift into darkness -- life shallow of meaning
Where there is no dreaming
…Warm desire replaced...
Misplaced
Now only a fading ember burning cool
Begging to be --More
Lying next to my love, shrouded by a crackling fire
(My broken desire)
Did I tell you I’ve lost myself?
Put my soul on a shelf and I don’t remember where
Thought I could shelve my cares
Come back another time
I’d be fine
I know that isn’t so
I reflect upon my threadbare soul
The cancer it grows
Much too fast to burn away
Smothered by the thought of yesterday
Now I lay beneath a sunset sky
My voice coarse as I whimper of my souls’ decay
I have become the never—Unable to try
A single tear of solitude I cry
Surrounded by those that love me so
Never knowing the emptiness that flows
Within the loneness of someone so cold
I’m so young-- and yet forever old
I beg only for death to take…Hold
A dance unfinished and forgotten

"Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry, you don't know how lovely you are". Very heartbreakingly beautiful, dearest. Rebs:).

Sadly serene Sol, and the acceptance is only salt on a wounded life perhaps. Here's some aloe gel and a hug - cheers! - Dan (recommend Leann Womack's "I hope you'll dance", if you get the chance:)

Sol... the depth to your writing is always expected and always amazing! your turn of ordinary words into phrases of note is always a trek through a master poet's mind... this was another "expected" beauty! Kudos! ~worm~

I love the title and the role it's namesake line plays. This is a stunning write, drenched with heart. Young and old, I feel you. The life you lead will often dictate your vitality. Great piece, homie
