...Cauterized

By SolApathy

Thought I could run away with you
How naïve in the throes of youth
I took the abuse
Emotional
Physical
As I dreamt of the sweet moments of perfection
Surrounded by the agony of my own reflection
Battered and bruised
Used
I knew I had to choose
But never was it today as I look beyond yesterday
Tomorrow always too far
Never thinking of the scars
Filling my body and soul
In the prophecy of a love never truly told
I escape to the misery of the pleasures
Only tidbits of a life, remiss
I dream of the kiss that first night
I weep at the first fight
I knew
You could become
Not you
A monster if you choose
Broken, battered, my essence you scatter
Batter
If only to calm your aching soul
You let me suffer
Untold..
Burning I was born to bleed
Heat of our passion always cauterized the wounds
Flash of anger ripping them open so soon
In my mind I bore the blame
A foreshadowing of a much deeper shame
I ended him and yet I still feel the

A multi-layered gem that speaks to several layers of living from the pleasant, to the pedestrian, and then the Perdition as a final payment. Cheers Sol and glad I stopped-by while taking a break from the hurricane prep. Cheers my friend! - Dan

zero-tolerance for abuse on ANY level! it's sad to think that some equate "love" with abuse... I have a friend who has told me that when she gets hit it makes her feel like he loves her more... She wouldn't seek help other than to talk with me about it... I'm happy to say she finally got the help she so desperately needed and is now free from the abuser! Wishing everyone Peace! ~worm~

Bravo.. how to brave to have the foresight and continue anyway. I spent a decade oblivious... Arguably better that way. Passion does cauterize. Beautiful concept that I'll carry long after some of these words fade. Brilliant write.
