...Poisonous Clarity

Into the clarity of this fresh blade
Pondering the thoughts of why I was made
Born to be beaten
Prey of your screaming
Took the vengeance of your misery upon my flesh
Scars still fresh
As the memories replay
New, deeper ones you make for me every day
I prayed until the darkness revealed
No higher power to heal
Only the emptiness within my soul
I contemplate why I haven’t let the blood flow
My reflection in the curve of the blade
A tiny smile escaped; not sure from what place
A distorted reflection of this empty space
I’ve lost the will to fight for I know there is no light
I draw the blade vertical upon the lines of life
Releasing the poison that was my
