A Treatise to Truth Seekers (eg Dark Poets)

By Adagios

Let flames spark from within frosts
Wake! And rise! And fire deep
The time is now, the now is here
So march yourselves unto the street

Most battered kindred stand, arise,
On feet long left to disrepair
Arm yourselves with truth and pride
Adopt the pose of mutineer

The halls and byways overrun
And ceded to the basest lot
A mob of morons,  festersome
Become a thoughtless juggernaut

Now threatens all with ignorance
Now challenges each hard fought gain
Losses gained through arrogance
Indifference has been our refrain

Lets us chant a newer tone
A dissonant atonal hymn
Let stomping foot be metronome
In symphonies of found wisdom

In ages past, the poet caste
Defined philosophies on being
Once sages and iconoclasts
Sought truth and deeper meaning

Responsible for rise and fall
Of ideologies own paths
Let forth again that strength of old
That bathed the world in hope and ash

Let once again your roar be heard
Among the dissolute and lost
Your legacy is stewartship
And swaying hearts remains its cost

Or don’t, as neither I have done
But knowing duly as is true
Gathered shepherds, herds are lost
For want of what is within you

Back again for another taste of this fine wine, trod from the grapes of wrath; when hope was the Phoenix asleep in the ash. Enjoyed the skillfully applied soft rhymes A. Cheers again, and Happy New Year while we're still here! - Dan

A fine treatise on the lot of the knowing, who must dwell in the Land of the Lotus Eaters. The positive closing set this apart from so many rants that only end in bitterness. Well done A. and cheers! - Dan
