my bad...

By worm

a brittle cocoon

of raucous thoughts surround

my ever tightening awareness

warning me that all is not

what it is meant to be

when did righteousness

subvert itself to be the next player

on the “price is right”?

why are we not shocked

at the very thought of

babies having babies?

fifty years ago, today’s norm

would have sent society’s establishment

spiraling into a tailspin of gigantic proportions

thereby causing the total downfall Western values

oh!

wait a second

my bad

I was listening to an old "Girl on Guy" podcast interview with Seth Green last night and he observed how FB had brought teenaged worldview to adults... "Here is the music I like"; "Here is the fashion statements I make"; "Didn't (insert actresses' name) look tacky at the Oscars? I know, right?!" He said it was a new kind of superficial frivolity that can now be quantified, unlike when we were young, where it was mostly abstract. I have 200 friends, but she has 950 friends. Only 2 people liked my comment. Scholar

It was an interesting take on things. Lots of positive and interesting results of recent technological advances...but in the end it also makes things easier to disseminate and promote the base parts of our culture and human nature. You can get all of Shakespeare's works for free whenever you want to read them. You can have any book you want downloaded into a small light device. But you can also access the cyber bordello of the billion plus dollar porn industry...at any time...which by the numbers more people choose to do that read Shakespeare. Scholar

It provides an environment where anyone can put their thoughts and creativity out there, for almost nothing...but still the easiest way to be noticed is to be loud, profane and mean-spirited...or, of course, feign huge offense at small things... Very interesting times. I think technology is amplifying our ability to communicate our collective personalities and morals...and, as a result, we are realizing we are generally a bunch of douche-bags. : ) Scholar

I just re-read your thoughts on this... You, my friend have hit the proverbial nail on it's freaking head!!! what was true four years ago has been amplified beyond belief! anyone over the age of eighteen should eat the pill and allow those technology laden brats to fend for themselves... lets see how far they will get when the store shelves are out of ring-dings and cheetos... God help us all!!!

We are raising a generation of self-absorbed Narcissists - gotta be true because I read it just today on the Internet! And here I've been calling them Pudwhackers, how unscientific of me, cheers!

I think everyone is vain to some extent. I guess it is about accepting yourself flaws and all. One of the hardest things to do
