Eternal Glory
By HeadpatSlut
Eternal Glory
Upon the Infantry advance-
We
charge them hitherto-
The Waltz of Death, and Loki's Dance,
From
Life to Death undo.
The legions of Artillery-
The Cavalry’s
attack-
We crush opposing Infantry-
Our rivals turning back.
They try to make one last retreat-
All roads and paths are
blocked-
They suffer Death and mass defeat-
In Nifelheim be
locked.
A score of arrows shoot through me-
My gut, my
chest and head-
On my back I smirk with glee-
Soon I shall join
the Dead.
My armor laden now with weight-
I crawl to reach
my blade-
The Sacred Steed whose legs are eight-
Descending
as I fade.
The Valkeries who circle high-
As Odin lends
his hand-
My spirit now, shall never die-
My home is Asgaurd’s
land.
With Lance, with Sword, and Steel hence-
We conquered
every shore-
Eternal Glory dawning thence-
We reign forevermore.

I think its interesting that you speak of dying in a present tense with an undertow of longing. You speak as if you think you know what awaits you, but you're more afraid that you might be wrong. But this is just my interpretation. i could be way off. -natelle

You are simply marvelous at these sort of writes. The blood, the piercing screams, the battle that ensues...I can imagine it all. Epic write.

I'm not usually into reading about ancient battles. But this held my interest until the end. A prideful people with powerful commitment. You wrote this very well. I don't know the subject matter but your writing painted a vivid picture for me nonetheless.

Another epic Nordic write, I love these battle scenes you play out, they're so realistic, the pain of the arrows lodged into flesh, I can feel it, well done, thanks.
