four walls and me

By Taunting The Reaper

sitting here between four walls
dancing for my rent
phone bills
car insurance
cable bill
DSL
food
drink
the occasional
cheeseburger in a lousy diner
I wonder if it’s that much worse
then sleeping on park benches
losing it all
to be free of it all

I’m so tired of the banality
of the same routine
but my fingers keep dancing
and the pigeons keep waiting
wondering if I’ll join them
at the park

I guess I lack the courage to let go
I guess I love my car too much
I guess I love spewing drivel on the phone
I’d probably be ok without cable
but a man’s got to eat
and drink
and those cheeseburgers taste pretty good
even in lousy diners

plus...
the pigeons aren't going to miss me anyway
so between these four walls
I’ll stay
