...Severance

By SolApathy

…Forever in my mind
The shards of my life cut you in your prime
Severed after only moments of blissful love
I screamed as I witnessed life drain from you
An anger building far beyond
Malice of a darkness far too strong
Thoughts incinerated within
 Inexorable pain
Vaporized the darkest rain
I sense the evil coursing within these tainted veins
Animosity shatters heaven and sky
Depth of my depravity annihilates all that stand by
Down below Hell knows
As my insanity burdens perdition with thoughts, dire
Knowing my loss will snuff out its raging fire
Collapse of the world runs through my soul
My cry the universe will know
Shrieking in fear as it understands
With her loss, the universe will cease
I detonate the chaos I feel
Tearing apart the fabric of a reality in which I will never
…Heal

We're always taught to be strong and stoic, and this really plucked at my heartstrings in such a devastating way. Bravo, dearest. Rebs:).

Your author's note is a poem in and of itself. This piece is exceptional, a stunning examination of when we fail others and the terrible aftermath.
