Poisoned Innocence

By nightshade

Quiet, breathless tears
stream from dry eyes
An emotionless, deadpan face
masking the turbulent torrent
of anguish and agony coated
vessels which travel from
my heart

Pick your poison and
name me what you will
for no matter how many times
you shall never
build a tolerance
for every time I shall carry
you upon
a tortured and twisted
surreal ride
like nothing
you have or ever will
see how I cause you to shrivel
to whither
to become malformed like
an embryo forming in
a radioactive environ

King Midas does not compare
to my touch
my poison
His ends in
a beautiful costly
imitation
whereas I leave a barren
windswept wasteland

Follow me here
in my loneliness
my ineptitude
where I walk alone
in dismal shadow
