chintzy

By zanewill

i will not comply
with this chintzy
quasi
charade gone awry

i'd rather be dipped
in dog shit &
rolled in corn flakes
baked & sold
as soy beefcakes

i'd rather stay high
as a stinking barfly
than prostitute my morals
to government jackals
whose entrails lead to corruption
under the assumption
we all prefer needles
in our nipples

i will always deny
ever courting the harlot
whose secret market
is aimed at the zealot
spouting spewing blasphemes
ever to appease
the latest contingency
wrapped neatly inside democracy

i'd rather shoot dope
than harbor hope
that there is some way to thwart
this evil blackheart
that soaps the political tightrope

i will say good-bye
in the guise of a shaman
careworn
lovelorn
unadorned
i will traipse unnoticed
back to before i was born
