any other day

By swing_the_hammer

"Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know"

today i sat beside your grave
and smoked a cigarette
today's the day i think about
the past and the regret

i went to your house
late on sunday night
i laid down on your carpet
and closed my eyes, and cried

today's the day i realized
that when i'm ninety and alone
you will still be buried here
just a coffin, and a stone

i don't cope well
with things like this.
i guess i never have.
it's hard to think that someday
i won't feel so sad

to think that my memories of you
are all that i've got left

today i sat beside your grave
and smoked a cigarette
today i'm not okay
-in fact-
it's been the worst day yet...

Death terrifies me... *pretends it doesn't exist* This poem really captures all the sadness and eventual resignation which comes with facing death.

This is well, it speaks beyond words. Gave me tears along with chills, not to mention reminding me that even though many years go by we still miss ones we loved so much.

  • A former member wrote: "i don't cope well with things like this. i guess i never have." I understand that too well. I lost my parents a few years ago and live in their house...where I grew up. This poem touched me.

this broke my heart to read...your pain bled through every word so cold and saturated in sorrow...time doesnt take away the scars (or the memories) but it does dull the pain and make it more tolerable...~kristy
