Venemous Call

By darkness_descends

So much time has passed
Since last we met
Since the sweet sound
Of your venomous call graced my ears
Why now after so much time
Do you call out to me?

I thought you were gone forever
The blissful pain you caused
Forever tempts me
Disgusts me
Puts a smile on my face
Tears in my eyes
Sadness in my heart
And guilt in my conscience
I hate you
I love you

The scars you caused
Are an eternal reminder
Of troubles long past
I thought I was strong enough
To leave you behind
Never look back
So why now
Do I hear you call?
Seducing me
With your poisonous promise
Of sobering inebriation

Why do you wish to open
Wounds of old?
Evils I can't allow myself
The rush of adrenaline
The pulsing beneath my skin
The boiling of my blood
The thrill of wrongfulness
The sinful absolution
Of suicidal day dreams
And nothingness of reality

Why have you come back
To offer me what I want
What I hate?
I reach out to take you in my hand
Against my will
In compliance with dark desires
And I feel your razors edge
Making me remember
Why I love you
Why I hate you
Bringing back fond memories
Of secret scars
As you bite through my skin

Why have you come to tempt me
My beloved hatred
My only weakness
My one addiction
My beautiful
Shiny cold
Steel blade.

This is masterly written with such defeat and longing that it reaches out and grabs you... Awesome work. C-ya. ~ Asheai

"Since the sweet sound of your venomous call graced my ears", I loved the excellent contradictory of that line. Very dark and rich with an awesome twist, the ending lines ruled. ~L
