...Poisoned Melody

Upon a shore of sand and sadness
I listen for the waves to whisk me away
Why is it we try to rhyme
Today I will keep the symmetry at bay
Last syllable rhyme
Time to drop the line
Ruin the landscape of a sunset sky
Burdening questions of a life that was but a lie
Escaping into the moments of futility, silenced
Can you hear the whimpering cry as hope was lost
Surrendered her to the cancer too long ago
I live in the moment of her demise, not her death
The moment we learned how soon would be her last breath
Fighting was never the cure
It was but a cause
Known to be a futile crusade
Yet we fought to keep the inevitable at bay
I live in that day
I have yet to leave
And never will I go
This hell is my home
