The Descent

By happilydepressed

Standing, frozen in time and place
Skin melting off my face
Are you here for to stare
What wicked wind blew you here

Was it the sound of screams
Was it something from your dreams
What do you seek and what have you found
Was it just useless information or something profound

I saw your shadow sneak away in the dark
I saw your eyes and that little spark
Lost, only to be found time and time again
Each time hollowing out the soul from within

The forces that hunt and haunt
The powers that laugh and taunt
Manipulated and decieved to believe
An evil too unimaginable to concieve

But the minds of many surge telepathic signals outward
A message from Earth to another distant world
Asborbed and transcended through the darkness of space
And maybe with enough collective thought we can overload the database

Unplug the cords from our brains
Pick up the sword once again and tear down whats remains
For if we grow once more content
We may never return from this descent

Very dramatic. I enjoyed the fantasy elements and distinct voice. Thank you for sharing. :)
