Depression

By happilydepressed

There's something in the darkness of your mind
It's not something hidden, lost, or left behind
It haunts your every thought, every memory
I see it in you I see it in me
It conceals itself in laughter and joy
And in solitude it begins to deploy
It feeds on fears and regrets
And still it lingers yet
No liqour or drug can take away the bitterness
Sucks out all the sunshine and happiness
Then you start spiraling down that dark path where shadows become one with the night
You feel blinded and feel lost without your sight
You feel you'll never find a way out of your misery
And all you want is a release, to be free
But you can't let such thoughts gain ground
Because joy and happiness in life can be found
Depression affects us all in some measure
But your life is more precious than any worldly treasure
