...Wilted

In the wilderness
Of the emptiness
Barren unwillingness
To bloom
I wither within the safety of my cocoon
Never knowing the silence that is my solace
Mock us
Imprison us within the emptiness of fear
Driving u
s to cower in order to survive
Never contemplating what life could be
If it wasn’t just me
Buried in the burdens of things that may go wrong
Worried I may fail to sing all the words of this song
What may I forget to say when your eyes look this way?
And so I turn away
Never giving the chance a chance
Never dancing the dance
I crawl back into the darkness of the dreams that will never be more
I close these weary eyes and pray to think no more

The author’s note sent this over the edge for me. “Buried in the burdens of things that may go wrong/Worried I may fail to sing all the words of this song” I love that.
