...Cocaine Dreams

By SolApathy

I remember the first time
I smoked that stale cigarette
Behind the school was always a safe bet
13, just a teen -Budding out into the obscene
Bets of age- Toking becoming all the rage
In a basement den
2 of my friends, close within
Not really knowing what to do
Hitting that Mary Jane with you two
Through the years new better bongs appeared
Brimming in a gas mask longer did my high last
Then one day the high no longer sustained
My feelings too engrained
17 and dark
Cocaine became my spark
Lit me up with a love of a thousand-holy dove’s
My life at home a pale memory when she was with me
Needle borne –She became the calm in my storm
Never would my family know as I escaped
This brutal hell-scape
Lying in bed while laying frozen still
My body here--My soul on a sunsetting hill

Scream or hit me instead as the words from my lips you read
~I’ve run away for the last time today~
Anger mounting as my smile only deepens your rage
You see the needle that let me escape your cage
A fatal dose of chemical bliss is my farewell kiss

Your words go straight to the core. This reminded me of a friend that I miss dearly. You write pain so...eloquently.

As guilty I can't condemn . But on the other side I can warn . The river is too swift it will sweep you away .
