...Tears upon the shore
By SolApathy
Laying upon the shore
I dreamt of more
Feeling the waves brush against my sand-stained skin
Some nights I just want to give in
Let the ocean steal me into its heart
Perhaps a chance to restart?
Lost so many chances
Broke so many romances
My soul just couldn’t let me be
-Happy
Sabotaging my smile
Looking to the mirror I see I didn’t deserve
(Even if I did)
I wrecked everything I fought so hard to preserve
Eyes pleading as the words leave my mouth
“I need to get out”
I break your heart as I run to my other love
My summer shore
The ocean calling once more
Could you lay here next to me
Feel the ocean calling to take me away
Can you convince her to let me
…Stay?
I dreamt of more
Feeling the waves brush against my sand-stained skin
Some nights I just want to give in
Let the ocean steal me into its heart
Perhaps a chance to restart?
Lost so many chances
Broke so many romances
My soul just couldn’t let me be
-Happy
Sabotaging my smile
Looking to the mirror I see I didn’t deserve
(Even if I did)
I wrecked everything I fought so hard to preserve
Eyes pleading as the words leave my mouth
“I need to get out”
I break your heart as I run to my other love
My summer shore
The ocean calling once more
Could you lay here next to me
Feel the ocean calling to take me away
Can you convince her to let me
…Stay?

I've always loved the ocean and the freedom that it can symbolize, even sometimes the suffocating freedom. This beautiful poem had such a tranquil feel to it and it really helped to ease some of the stress that I've been feeling. Thank you so much for writing this piece of art, dear Sol. Rebs:).

I wanted to be on that shore. To feel the ocean swallow me whole. I needed this right now.
