....Desire's Cruelty

By SolApathy

Desire’s whim and little sins
Laying upon the shore, with you I want nothing more
Glorious sunset; singing light across the waves
Scent of dreams & life whisk into me & mine
Hum of the oceans grace as it dances in perfect pace
Sand beneath our skin warm as summer grins
If only this place wasn’t just in the thoughts between my screams
Living this dying dream as you were the fool
Holding onto this moment before I return to the cruel
Realization
You lay before me on this hospital bed
All broken and red
Tubes of futile hope; knowing you are already too broke
Why’d you have to run against the darkness to get your high
Why wasn’t it enough, me by your side?
Ever faint beeps, creep into the memories between
Staining my dreams with darkness
All I will ever feel
Next to you I kneel
Whispering the love that fit us both like a glove
Praying soon we will both meet

Those last 3 lines are everything. This was good (but then again I wouldn't expect anything less).

A tender and poignant glimpse into the author's mind; where we all share that same beach blanket perhaps, in those happier times before the relentless cruelty of fate intervenes, as it will, unbidden, on brief interludes of happiness. Cheers TA! - Dan
