Bites
By Lab Rat
I sold my soul for a warning sign
In this place and time
Where things revolve like macabre dreams
In this dark twisted mindscape
Things go bump in the day
The dust in my mouth chokes the words
From my throat, croaking out again and again
"where are you now?"
And I'm flying after the answer
I close my eyes
And I'm racing
Chasing after my ever tomorrow
Across the mountains of your promises
Up the spindle of towers
Leaving me where you've never been
Heart ache and loss
They reside here, without the truth
In your voice
And I'm feeling the lines
Lying like fine wine
Lost in the twirl of your tongue
As you dig it into the inside of your cheek
Just before taking a bite

That was like nails on a chalkboard in a room full of blind people. Intensely profound.

Your words will always make some of my old scars itch. A reminder. A warning. Meh.
