Shadow Whispering
By Lab Rat
I have spent lifetimes appeasing the shadow
whispering from the far reaches of my corners
The allure of sweet voice, spinning me fairy tales
Telling me stories
And I've learned to give over
The moments spent in between dream and sleep
I've been seen through
Playing opaque to protect the longest times
Spent between the beats of my heart
Playing pretend that I loved me
Like that whisper did
Like the shadow does
Always I ask, talk to me, in voice clear
Walk with me, in the light
Pull from the shadows of the day dear
Step in dance with me at night
Only to be reminded, what little light
There has always been
cast upon me

It's like fingers, drumming on soft , dark wood.... just enough weight to draw notice, just enough depth to keep straining for more.... shadow and light, the perfect waltzing companions

This hurts, only because it's epic. This deserves an ovation.

The last three lines hurt. I found myself pulling back as I read this. It's painful in a lot of ways (at least for me). I'm glad you're back to posting. I miss your words.
