All over again, hand in hand
By Lab Rat
I've seen places where coins were something
to steal
Where violet painted skies were bought for a dime
When a smile would appeal
To the verdict of my crime
Its heel toe, heel toe
Our primitive dance
I've listened to your rumors, I riddle speak
Just to hide
I used to dance around bonfires
Leaving footswirls in the sand
I used to have smooth skin
Upon my hands
Now blistered, and cracked voices
Replaced this man
Like skin suits, sutures with twine
Electronic heartbeats and silicone eyes
There once was a life that was mine
But I gazed upon your stars,
When they were still young
Felt the peel of skin beneath old skin, scars
That I could rip open just to resew out long
I could
Once back
When, raise
My own breath
Nurtured and sore
I would keep
Tabs on the score
Just to keep it all
Even
I wish this was just some morbid rhyme
Lost etched on my wall
Stuck there in time
Like poetry books, lit up LED
Someplace to call
My own
Someplace where I could see
Whenever I wished
The riddle puzzle of your existence
I used to do those crosswords across your skin
In pen
But now my fingertips, like erasers
Are all worn thin
With purple bruises
And blisters
Red like roses, violet like dawn
So when I'm stuck here alone
Crying in the dark
Just a bottle and a poem
I'll just somberly grin
And think of all the times
We had to start this again

last line seems a half breath away from lethal... the whole punishing like a pendulum in each stanza... vivid and cutting....

The last stanza... I'll forever be glad that you put yourself out there like this. Getting glimpses into your sky has always and will always be something I'm grateful for.
