Picture
By Intoxicating Delirium
A picture of you I hold dearly in my hand
Because I know my time
with you has been banned
I remember you now, but I know that
memories fade
I know there will be no more memories with you to be
made
A few years from now your face will be a blur to me
I will try to put the pieces together but I won't be able to see
I will remember that your hair was brown and your skin was light
But
I will not be able to get the picture right
I will recall a
time when I could imagine the lines on your face
But then I will have
no idea where they should be placed
The memories will still
fade away against my resistance
But your face will be forever mine
and will not fade into the distance
This picture of you I will
keep forever
So I can remember our short time together.

A vivid impact of expression. A theme so relative and true to the soul.

Thank you for sharing that, now I know I'm not the only one. This one hit me close to the heart, I won't lie, I started to tear up...wow! You said it perfectly.

pictures always remind of us of our past. I say burn the damned pictures.

I think this is your best one (my opinion). That's what pictures are for...sometimes it can escape us when it fades & then we have to ask ourselves is it as precise? Nice work. Keep writing. Welcome to DP :)

He is still alive, just haven't seen him. I wrote this a few years ago. I'm content with the situation I suppose.
