Another Found Letter Unsent

By Kaleidoscope_Heart

As for you,

I remember the soft pierce of light behind your eyes.
How it seized my judgment with an angel's fierceness,
only to gradually spiral away from me in complete apathy.

We were so young;
I remember the innocent burdens we chose to share together: the sweetly twisted fairytale we tangled our teenage hearts in,
because we were so niave, so alive,
and so presently possessed with one another
that others wondered if we were human.

Remember that?

I always knew you to be strange,
and I perhaps judged you at times.
But I swear it's always affectionate I mean it always was.

I don't know you anymore.

Years ago this thought startled my entire being,
and now I am merely confused.
Is it my fault that we don't know each other anymore this time?
Our attempts at closure were always so goddamned unfocused
and kinda half assed.
One of us seemed to always be on another planet
while the other ached to be heard.

I miss understanding us.

But perhaps it all wasn't mean to be understood,
just had.

Sincerely,

                    Your Childhood-Sweetheart gone missing

Author's Note:

I feel in love with my best friend when I was 11 up to when I was 16/17. We dropped off the face of the planet and I just found this letter I wrote for him maybe 1 year ago. I'm 23 now... Funny how we swear to know someone forever when we are kids.

People grow up and grow apart, sadly. Maybe it's best that young people don't have the wherewithal to chase their dreams? Maybe not, cheers!

...yeah, it hurts a little, I guess that's why they call it a crush...

To be young and immortal, if only for a moment. I remember the young girls in my classes drawing hearts and writing "Mike and Janet 4 Ever!" They really meant it (I wasn't so sure about Mike). Those were wonderful times for so many short sighted reasons. Your poem to me back there for a few minutes. For a few minutes I was a sweetheart again and my heart raced like a schoolboy with a crush.
