Metaphors Spin Easily (from the mouths of Dark Poets)

By lordshadow

metaphors spin easily
from the mouths of those who see
life is nothing but
a dream from which you can not
awaken
no matter how hard you're shaken-
from the mouths of those who've had
everything taken and
held onto for ransom
without the chance
to
ever
get
it
back...

metaphors spin easily
from the mouths of those who understand
how the pain of an entire year
can amount to just one tear-
afraid to let a single soul near
in fear that on one inevitable day
they'll be washed away by a flood
of emotion
with the fury of an ocean
without the chance
to
ever
get
them
back...

metaphors spin easily
from the mouths of those who believe
that with achievement comes grief
and all the "things" we grip to our
chest and do our best to not
let them slip and fall to the ground
are greased with uneased stress
and will fall and shatter no matter
how tight your grasp
without the chance
to
ever
get
them
back...

metaphors spin easily
from the mouths of those Dark Poets
and philosophical prophets who
while not false
their faces are shrouded by phrases
of wisdom and an unexpected feeling
of belonging to a part of something
bigger than themselves-
from the mouths of those who
spill their souls
in hopes that the holes of their stories
will fill themselves in
and they can begin
to move on past this
sense of falling from the grace
of something bigger than themselves
leaving that feeling
of belonging behind
without the chance
to
ever
get
it
back...
