The Ancestor
By rosemaiden
He ruled in fear
There lives he destroyed without
care
Bones broken and burned
The smell of flesh the air
churned
Promised change and protection
But brought nothing
but brutalities
Children forced to kill for food and clothing
Families sent home with nothing
At first he had such an appealing
lure
His children called him their Fuhrer
Death he released
to the innocent
Of those crimes he did not repent
Instead
he hung himself on those Nazi reigns
Unfortunate his distant blood
runs through my veins

Love this. I too come from the â€bloodlineâ€. My mother being from Wurzburg Germany. My grandfather work as a Gestapo officer. Not sure my feelings on him. He was inprisoned for years. Great poem about one of history's darker times.

That one really got me. I'm an amatuer WWII historian, and I've written about Hitler and Nazi Germany a lot. Bravo!
