A Taste Of Betrayal

By Malcholm Dark

Once the armor of my heart, protector
Now, blood ties shatter before us both.
Once the finest man, I called friend--Brother
Desire turned you, murderer of my trust.
.
.
.
My brother, how does betrayal taste?

Once the amorist of my heart, soul mate
Now, love lies shattered before us both.
Once a fine woman, I called friend--My wife
Passion turned you, murderer of my soul.
.
.
.
My beloved, how does betrayal taste?

Once held above all others, trustworthy
Now, vengeance falls down upon you both.
Once so respected and revered--So loved
Buried alive!!!  Murder, painfully slow.
.
.
.
My loved ones, how does betrayal taste now?

I like this it is similar to Ceasar in certain ways. sort of a Ceasar-Brutus moment. I like it.

Buried alive in each other I would think, and a slow and painful death for the betrayers reaping their black hearts' desire - each other's eternal love; born of betrayal. A match made in that darkest place where Pity averts with sidelong glance and Death comes in a whisper. Condolences mate!

Adultery goes through such formal motions now: suspicion, hidden cameras, discovery, talk show, then divorce/murder.You cut out the middleman with this piece, straight to the bone, or rhubarb in this case. Let it be a warning to all promiscuous partakers in the rhubarb patch, write onward. Scholar

Excellent write! I love the classic betrayal theme here, and I enjoyed how the similar phrasing compared the two betrayers of your heart. Very Shakespearean feel with the revenge twist at the end! I look forward to reading more of your work.
