Death of a kitchen fly
By HeadpatSlut
For 14 minutes,
oven on high-
The bacon tray goes in-
It heats up so high and
greasy-
The meat cut thick, not thin-
Oven mitts on,
I pull out the tray,
And then set it off to the side-
I did
non yet know that on that very same day-
I would see the death that
a kitchen fly died-
Out of nowhere it seemed, or from next
to the ground beef-
A fly went a flying in the opposite of relief-
Within a fly's short lifespan there's rarely time to learn-
Why
not to fly into things that will cause you to burn
I walked
back to the bacon tray and noticed it quick-
In lava-like bacon grease
writhing, so sick-
It must have felt awful, so horribly wrong-
And it might have escaped, but I hit it with my tongs-
Poured out the bacon grease to cook things in later-
dropped the
small body in the trash can, and fist bumped a waiter-
Handed most
of the bacon right over to Javi-
And saved the piece that the fly
flew right into for me.
