I Am Forever
By Malcholm Dark
"I was
born Lucius Caligulus of Macedonia in 980 B.C.
I was a centurion
in the Roman army and was killed in
battle for the first time in
the year, 24 A.D.
I am immortal..."
The
year was A.D. twenty-four
I'm a soldier fighting a war.
There was carnage every where
Covered in blood, I did not care.
I took an arrow through the heart
But did not die, that was
the start.
All life and death fell hand in hand
The wars
to come I would withstand.
Important things seemed meaningless
From fortunes made, to pennyless.
I cared little and could
not see
And lived for pride and vanity.
For all the reasons
and the rhymes
I have died one thousand times.
And through
the pain of distant tears
I've lived one hundred thousand years.
The world's destroyed and man is gone
Except for me as I live
on.
The sky has turned a clouded gray
The sun hides out
on any day.
The air I breathe is now unclean
My world
grows cold, there's little green.
All life on earth is fading
fast
And very soon I'll be the last.
My life has been a
time portal
Safe from death, I am immortal.
For all my
sins I must atone
Upon this earth, I am alone.
All the
years yet to endeavour
Pity me, I am forever.

I hate people who want to live forever. To be trapped on this earth with no escape from this, k can't imagine. To not be able to release yourself, that'd be awful. Great work.

This really brings out the unglamorous side of immortality. To live on in this world with no escape. Beautiful Sir. Write on.

How are things in Coventry nowadays with all the smoke in the air? 100,000 years is a long time - if it started in the Bronze Age, then we still have a ways to go yet. Interesting perspective into the future of the planet. Well done!

Immortality, watching every mortal perish, and pine for the same fate, to no avail. Such a cruel eternity it must be. Well written fantasy, let's hope it's not the final one.

I enjoyed reading this. It was an interesting journey from one amazed at the concept of being immortal to slowly dreading it.
