The Memories
So long ago, so far away, it’s almost been forever-
They say time doesn’t wait, that’s true, it doesn’t, never-
Looking at us in that old photograph, I remember all the old days-
Inside your shell, inside my Hell, can you remember all our old ways?
Can you recall the parking lot behind our favorite spot on the avenue?
I didn’t think so, I can tell that you’ve forgotten it now, haven’t you?
Sweet teenage nights we were together, all those movies at the promenade-
How hard we laughed how hard we kissed we used to think that we both had it made-
But even then we knew it couldn’t last, it went to fast, like lightning-
But with no thunder it’s no wonder there was never a second sighting-
And right now the photograph is just like your memories of back then-
It’s been folded, shredded, crumbled and torn and it will never be perfect again.

I love this, the rhythm is entirely badass. I have a poem like this but i dont remember what it's called. The bittersweet memories that erode ever so brutally, in such a gentle way. Like her lips are ghosting, like they fall away

That song has a lot of my own memories attached to it, root beer floats at the drive-in, midnight screenings of Godzilla, the crackle and hiss of illegal fireworks. Good times. Memories, like photographs, are stored away for later recollection. Well said indeed.
