Ad astra per aspera

By DarkDruidess

Darkened paths twist before me

Stretching out towards sights unseen

Towering trees overshadow

Creating a stifling canopy

That threatens from above

Skeletal branches are poised to snare

If I stray an iota from the passage

Embedded with shards of glass

That leads me onwards

Cautiously I tread around bends

Whimpering and bleeding

Frightful of what I may find

Too traumatized to go back

Alive enough to want to live

Only partially dead enough

To want to truly die

So relentlessly I trudge on

Forging my way in blood

Ad astra per aspera

Hope overcomes everything, and it's good you didn't forget it, as you say, "this comes from a dark time."

I hope your path becomes increasingly smooth for you, hon.
