Apostles of Darkness

By Riven Waker

There are doorways to strange places
Shadows that feed upon mortal fears
Dwell there in darkest despair
Torn away and drawn down
From the dimensions we know
Still stranger demons
Assail the living realm
Through gateways
Beyond time itself
Now their palely glowing eyes
Surveil long deadened horizons
Save for a bleak vast monolith
Overshadowing and arising from
A stark and sacred terrain
The fortress of eyes' fantasy

The description is wonderful and it definitely gives you an idea of what you yourself was seeing when you were writing. Well done. --David--

There are very few authors I actually enjoy the truly dark pieces such as this from, two poems written thus far and I can already add you to that list. Great work, great imagery and diction. Welcome to DP and write on.

A modest amount of alliteration throughout, it just worked for me.
