Paper Moons

By molock

He only exists 2
dimensionally,
between the pages
of history books
and on the cover of
Time magazine...

As he watches the
earth.
motionless,
as it drifts
through cislunar space.
he's the man on the
moon,
there at tranquility base...

Big blue marble
spinnin' like a top.
complete with cloned
clouds,
then photo shopped.

Maybe someone's
 hi-jacked your mind,
maybe you can't move...
by some clever design,
maybe they've hi-jacked
the truth...

parallax is measured by
degrees,
I'm a reasonable man
but my perception is changing....

Stranded forever,
he cradles the sun
from 93 million miles away
because his only companion
is the heat on his face
with no way home,
all he has is a toggle switch,
satellite dish and static on his
radio phone.

He's been waiting for
years,
on a message from mars
...but he hasn't received it
yet.
as the signal travels through
the stars,
the square inverse law is
in full effect.

he doesn't remember the
ultraviolet light or
sonic booms,
but the lunar rocks in
his gravity boots,
have a blue silver hue...
he's here to tell ya
brother,
it's front page news.
you can't land rocket ships
on paper moons.

Big blue marble,
spinnin' like a top.
complete with cloned
clouds,
then photo shopped...

maybe they've hi-jacked
your mind,
maybe you can't move
...by some clever design
maybe they've hi-jacked
the truth.

Parallax is measured by
degrees,
I'm a reasonable man
...but my perception is
changing......

This cuts through with such brilliance, incision and imagination.

One of your best Mo and worth the wait bro! Parallax view and the strength of the field is inversely proportional to the square of the distance - most impressive scientific sleights of hand to be sure. Gotta make this a fave and come back again for dessert. Cheers my friend! - Dan

There's that lyrical style I love so much. The gravity of this is vast. There's a quietness here that I deeply enjoyed.
