In the echo of emotions
capsized in the sea of raging loss
I held onto this boat—tossed
Dire sounds of thunder surround
Lightning exemplifies the plight
Knowing I’m losing this fight
Drowning in the ocean of what-if moments never explored
In the distance I heard the slamming doors
Cold chill of an endless sea of lost possibilities
My rationale to hold on escapes me
I hear them calling as help is near
Yet it is the help I fear
Can’t let anyone near
See the broken pieces inside of me
They’ll never understand they can’t rebuild this man
I let go just as I feel the brush of a hand seeking to heal
Don’t they know the ocean depths will help me to never feel?
