When We Found Fire

By Phalanx

You called to conquer.
Stomp as much as you dare.
I like you loud.
I need a promise that your heart makes.
The kind our minds foolishly crave to enforce.
Steel, heeding fire and becoming a weapon.
Promise me...
That you won't stop what you are.
There is no shame here, where skulls cool
On shelves after the furnace took
It's six pounds of flesh.
Nothing in this chaotic world makes more sense
Than the uncertainty of blood and fire.

I choked up at this. But fire is too delicious a thing not to feel. And if it please, will remain lit for however long needed.

"Stomp as much as you dare. I like you loud." I don't know why those two lines shook me, but they did. This was really good. I really enjoyed it.
