Don't Get Too Close
By felicity0444
The mind spins
But it finds a way
To ease the soul
and survive another day.
The tarnished heart suffers.
Your mind spins out of control.
In denial you wonder
Why am I all alone?
The ones that get too close
They’re really all the same.
Put them back where they belong
No more playing games.
Cold blank stare will do for now,
To discourage all their thoughts
that say the things that you know
your own words cannot.
Don’t fall into feelings
That would be too weak.
Put the blame on them.
They are just the meek.
Don’t let people care for you
That’s getting way too close.
What if they think you care too?
You just can’t let that go.
Push them back
And to the side
Where they can dream
And not break your stride.
Stuck in your ways.
Never time for change.
Don’t give just take.
There’s no middle ground today.
You’re stronger than them.
You’ve been here before.
Don’t let it show
You can’t let them know
Just what you had in store.
Denial breeds disappointment,
Self-Pity, Disgust and Despair.
While you hide in your hole
And wonder
Why am I the only one here?

Words like that drive a man to stomp. Not to harm but to dance. I guess you're right, we're all a little ugly. Why not take a chance. I like this. I'm keeping it.
