Imprint

By freudian-slip

For a moment be still,
in effort to remember
a time and place...
if you are able and willing

the force of your nature
unpredictable

like a selfish, untraceable thief
stealing
all within reach
of my common sense
and dignity

no expectation or pretense
as your sunshine smile
effortlessly traces
my sudden salty skin

those feelings
which are immeasurable as they begin
yet taste vaguely familiar
to my fragmented soul

and the absence of wind and words
quickly unfold

in a terminal second
or a year's measure of time

as my childlike eyes
and once protected heart
lift
and align
into the perfect light
that is you

Behind your face
placed
forever inside mine

embedded in my body's
every cell

transforming DNA

racing through
and above
what used to be my stoic defense

immediately weak
behind my needs and knees
defenseless

in control and fearless
of everything

despite all of this
but
what is the grace
and presence
of
your
Love

When chains and memories dissolve, I'm pretty sure this what it sounds like. Amazing.
