Art Is
By manunkind
Language travels in waves
Through single track brains
Perceive the world
Then paint it
Think the idea
Then dream it
Be the dream
Be the scream
That only language can free
From confusion
And delusion
Human creation
Is breaking
Into rules
And unworthy fools are
Defining art
Like
Art is a plastic flamingo in your lawn
If you want it to be.
Art is shit smeared across the wall
(if the artist signs his name in shit-
If the shit is HIS.)
Art is something beautiful.
Art is
Art is
Art is Art.
Pay the artist a dollar to do it
And he’ll paint you a self portrait
Pay the artist a dollar to do it,
And he’ll write truth
That isn’t True at all
Pay the artist at all,
And he will be a service
no longer an artist

ah... such thoughts are too often too true... does not money taint every endeavor? is not the intrinsic value of life, of love, of art and the humanities so often trampled by the extrinsic doggerel of the marketplace... very nice transition in the first two stanzas... weighty thoughts.. thanks!

bravo! when art becomes a burden/responsibility/job does it cease to be about emotion? does it lose its meaning as it becomes an obligation? very thought provoking ~kristy

this speaks clearly and creatively and quite bluntly about the truth of art and touches upon the truth IN art that cannot really be articulated into any kind of formed definition...you fully speak of the misguised

...and the unfortunate corporate/financial mainstream that art is all too 'commonly', almost replaced with...nobody can buy nor sell true art...one can only create and experience it...well said.
