Frozen Rose Petals

By Thorn

Snowflakes fall to the ground like the lifeless bodies of fools
Whose severed heads remain trapped in the clouds that block out the hope of sunlight

Snowflakes shimmer like dreams of what could be
Only to be destroyed by the unstoppable power of what is
And melt into glum memories of what might have been

The day shines like promises of happiness
That ever prove empty as the faith of the betrayed
When the inevitable darkness
Covers all
With misery

That 1st stanza was fuckin' superb and sucked me right into the rest of the piece. To me, this feels like a development in your poetic style - Long may it continue, dude!!

I wrote this very spur-of-the-moment on a napkin during dinner on the worst day I've had in a long time.
