this is romance, on a napkin

By verablue

(a silly little peice about an old friend of mine who disappeared ages ago....)

tick tock
The iron watch stops
Your wicked witch waits
Steel toe desires

Still lingering with me

You were always on the go
Always west
Always Farther

Always
Drifting.switching….daydreams

Our 1987 Crown Victoria
Into sunset sabotage
Your ever changing tune whistling
Never missing
A [heart]beat.

Romance written on napkins
Drifting off under the skylight stars
Desert only dinners
And 3am marshmallow fires

I’ll still always picture you with that pink hair
Falling over your eyes

Your paint and ink drenched fingertips
Smoking a cigar on the roof of my car

Chasing down your strawberry blond ambition
To the rhythm of an old bass beat
Pretty pink fantasies

I watch you tap those square toes

So tell me now
In that same fictitious style your words always wore so well

did you ever get to dance with your witch?

there is such musicality to your words..they flow like a river without ever sounding contrived. "sunset sabotage" is my favorite. very very nice.
