Diamond Belly

By nur hidayah

i can't write but fear
dissolving into mumble tone
graphite madness.
an endless growth of paper
gashed with flatlines.
my empty poetry-vault pencil quivering words
in jagged lifelines.

i only dream of
the sun swinging eccentric
like a slapped gas lamp.
darkness.light.darknessdarkness.light!
flash inanity.
multiplying painfully
in a dream of no division.
it roared: light!light!
darkness.light!dar...k.

i love a boy whom i've yet to meet.
he is soft as a moth
lips dusted princely yellow
with wings of pheromone tentacles.
a single tendril
gently pumping an abeyant heart.
a forest of vines
choking lungs with
bluebells and foxgloves.
his blink sending eyelashes
raking a blood path
down papyrus cheeks.

i live and breathe
only to seek company
of gigolo cigarettes
to tongue me oblivious gray.
munching blood bathed diamonds
before it slides off
a licorice tongue.

i'm afraid to die because i know that
the stars will be tobacco stained
in tribute to meaningless chimney songs
of a mute diamond belly bard
who feared everything
dreamed nothing
loved something (anything)
and lived

rotting.

    Wow. This is awesome.

  • A former member wrote: The third stanza owns my soul. You pretty thing. You stamp your words out on my heart and make it painful to breathe anything except your beauty. I love you.

Realy great. I loved so many lines in this, and the write as a whole fits so perfectly together. "an endless growth of paper" was a big plus to this write. .
