Back to consciousness,

as my knees hit the ground.


I find myself digging,


and sifting


through dust,
bone,
ash,
and debris.


for the breath you took
from me.


Biblically,
the devil appears as
an angel of light.


Confucius says,
be careful what you wish for.


Politically,
absolute power corrupts
absolutely.


And in contradictive wives tales,
we all get just what
we deserve.


But accross my heart


carved in with a rusty
fingernail,
