Lightening Bug Reality
By Army Barbie
A warm breeze
Snaked up my skin
While a lightening bug
Flickered in my periferal vision.
It didn't twinkle
Half as bright
As the stars I was studying
...But it was beautiful...
And then a thought occured to me.
They they have lightening bugs
[Over There]
?
Surely it's too hot.
Surely it would damage
This beautiful bug.
So I rolled over.
And stared.
And for the first time
Since you've left
I cried.
I bawled.
Tennessee now has a new
Salt water pond.
Reality found me
And took away the morphine
All at once
So I had no control over
My emotions.
I caught the lightening bug
Put it in a jar
And thought for a small second
I would send Charlie the bug
To you.
But I realized
Charlie had to have a family
So I let Charlie out,
Fell like a ball of glass
Into the grass once more
And let the wind
Rape my body again
Hoping this wind
Would make it's way to you
So you'd feel me
Because I know
You have to feel more alone
And heartbroken
Than me
Laying in my own backyard.

you make me come so close to crying. It's nuts. I'm continually impressed.

I love how you refer to it as "over there" because as many of us know, its almost too painful to speak those words.
