almost like family

By swing_the_hammer

well hey, sweet insomnia,
i love you like a brother.
you're always there for me
at night
when there is no other
all day long i think of you
all night i hold you close
if it weren't for you, dear friend,
how deep i'd rest- who knows?
i'm surprised that all the others
with envy don't turn green
because sleep just cannot make up for
all the stars that i have seen

and as the clock hands turn again
i'm tempted to just give in

but sleepless nights leave me pale and white
i try to get color, i pinch my cheeks
sleepless nights leave me cold as ice
and the sandman hasn't been here for weeks

well, hey, sweet insomnia,
i love you like a brother.
but someday i hope you leave
and are replaced by someone other
please don't take it personally
it's not quite what it seems
it's not that i don't love you
-but-

i really miss my dreams...
